“The boy on the bench,” he says softly.
“You never told me about him.”

His voice says everything he refuses to.
Tension coils in the static.
He waits, feigning patience, as I let implications take the weight of any words I could expel.

“He wanted to be there,” I say, shrugging.
“You didn’t.”

Amazon’s strange mistake works in author’s favor

According to a post on Penguin Teen’s Tumblr, yesterday Amazon randomly changed the author of The Fault in Our Stars from John Green to Holt McDougal, a well-known textbook publisher.

However, instead of eliciting confusion or frustration, John Green fans and other Amazon reviewers responded with comical support and praise for the new author saying things like:

“one could say this book is very John-Green-esque. Seriously, if you don’t like John Green, Holt McDougal is the next best thing,” and “John Green can only hope to aspire to the power of this book.”

John Green also re-blogged the post to his Tumblr  and tweeted about it, sharing the humor.

The Fault in Our Stars is available on Amazon and Better World Books.

The feature film is scheduled to premiere in June of 2014.

On plans for NaNoWriMo

If you’re not familiar, the month of November is also known as National Novel Writing Month!

According to “the rules,” you’re supposed to write every day in November and end with enough words to count your work as a novel. HOWEVER, anyone that has participated in NaNoWriMo in the past knows that writing never really goes as planned.

So, being inspired by one of the blogs I’m following on Tumblr, I have decided to post a piece of original writing every day at 5 p.m. for NaNoWriMo.

I know this isn’t a novel, but this is my commitment to myself, my followers and my writing.

Thank you to all of my followers for their continued support, and good luck to any and all planning on participating in NaNoWriMo!
