Why worry about arming the faculty? Unlikely weapons can be found in most classrooms

Every room should have a fire extinguisher.

Not just in schools, but in homes.

Keep one in your car.

Extinguishers can be used as a tool and a weapon. The dry chemicals remove all oxygen, and  attackers cannot breathe.

Extinguisher shells are metal, and most are light. They can be wielded as clubs or bludgeons.

A felling blow stops aggressors.  The assailant is left disoriented or unconscious.

Extinguishers are less threatening than a weaponized populace, and protect against more threats than fire.

(Some context for you)

In my opinion writing class we were challenged to write with extreme concision on a topic of our choice. We were strictly ordered to obey the following stipulations:

  • Communicate a single point using 10-12 sentences total
  • Two sentences must be exactly five words
  • Two sentences must be exactly ten words
  • The remaining sentences can be any length

The above is my submission.
